STEP THREE
MAKING A DECISION
Below are frequently asked questions to help you in your decision-making process.
Also, we invite you to read our customer reviews and to check out our photo gallery.
How big is the ice carving block?
A single standard ice block for carving is approximately 10" x 20" x 40" and
weighs about 300 pounds. The weight of a finished ice carving is about half
of that, depending on how much ice is removed during the carving.
How long will my ice carving last?
For an indoor event, it may last up to about 6 hours depending on the temperature
of the room. Outdoor is variable depending on climate or season, but it is
recommended that the ice carving be placed in the shade, away from the direct rays
of the sun, to ensure longevity.
How is the melting ice carving drained?
Our custom drip trays are equipped with a hose which drains the water into a bucket
nicely concealed under the table.
How much table space is required for my ice carving?
This depends on the size of the ice carving. Our most common trays measure about
16" x 24", 16" x 49", 24" x 24", and 24" x 48". We can do ice carvings of just about
any size. It is recommended that the display table for the ice carving must be strong
and sturdy enough to handle the weight of the finished piece.
What are my lighting options?
Various spot lights, LED lights or lighted drip tray(s). The lighting can also be
customized to match most themes
Can items be frozen into my ice carving(s)?
Yes, however, this will be a special order and will have additional fees.
Is there a discount if I ordered multiple carvings?
Yes there is a discount for each additional carving of equal or lesser value with
the exception of individual table centerpiece carvings. Contact us to find out.
How much is a standard one-block ice carving?
Starts at about $380 including a complimentary drip tray, lighting, set-up and
take-down. There are various prices for various sizes and degrees of difficulty.
There may be an extra charge for distances beyond 50 miles from our location.
How early do I need to place an order?
No later than four weeks before the function date. However, please be advised that
an agreement will have to be signed and full payment made before work is finished.
Rush orders may be considered on individual basis and may be subject to additional
charges.
Why should I order an ice carving at all?
In light of this question and taking a wedding for an example, may I ask: Why should
you order a wedding attire, limousine service, a wedding cake, food, flowers, music,
caviar, champagne...etc? Why should you buy wedding rings or invite guests at all?
Why should you even celebrate? There are reasons for example, why the groom holds
the bride on his left side instead of his right, or why the married couple wear their
rings on their specific left fingers.
These formalities or customs have been handed down over several generations,
and they mean something within the cultures involved. You would want to look
your best on your special occasion, and you would want your guests to feel highly
treasured and honored to have been invited to celebrate with you and your loved
ones on your special day. You would also want them to remember you and all the
good things that will happen from there on, wouldn't you?
Even though champagne may not be a necessity when throwing an event that day,
you may choose to toast one anyway, just to celebrate and create an intimate and
lasting memory for every one who will attend. It's a formality and a free-will choice,
because we are creatures of celebration.
It is fun to observe how most people are emotionally drawn to ice carvings. They
seem to continue to rave about them more than they do any of the other products
and services mentioned above. Ice carvings are among the most effective advertising
media.
Ice carvings also convey a metaphor to life in that, as beautiful things happen and time
goes by (the melting of the beautiful ice carvings), we too in a similar way, must
choose to cherish and hold on to the fond memories we experience as we go through
life building our relationships!
